I am waiting for two new books which are right now in the system. Which book will be printed and sent to me first?  Since "Wild, Wild Wind" was accepted first, I suspect that may be the first book I receive. Let's go with that one for today.

My mother inspired this story, "Wild, Wild Wind." When she and I stepped out the front door of her country home, the wind almost blew us off the porch.

"Whoa." I exclaimed. We stumbled down the long driveway, buffeted about by the prairie wind, to the dirt road where the mailbox stood,.

"If we aren't careful, this wind will blow us on down the road!" Mom said. My dad and Mom loved to say, on a windy day, that the prairie wind might "blow us away!" Mom deposited her letters safely in the mailbox, and we started back to the house, our heads down, trying to block the gusts. A story was forming in my mind.

As soon as we were back in the house, and I could find a pencil and my journal, "One Wild Wind" was born. About a jillion revisions and edits later, this story begged to leave my hands and head out into the world.

So world, here we come, "Wild, Wild Wind" and I.  It's worth waiting for.  Just a few months to go!

2018 --- Two New Books

December and January days filled up with editing two of my books for my publishing company, 4RV Publishing. For those of you who have not enjoyed this type of a "job," it demands an amount of time sitting at a computer and a watchful eye for emails just sent from your editor.

I do believe the editing is now finished for both books. That part of getting books published required constant attention, a fair number of compromises to be made, and a deadline to be followed.

The next part, has its own subtle demand, that of patience. Both of my books are now in the design and illustrating phase. The author gets to wait and wait some more. I'm being a good sport and finding other things to occupy my time. Illustrating a book could take three months or longer.

So, while I wait, I begin letting others know of my two new books. This is the early marketing stage. Every author is the main marketer of his or her books, so the author quickly understands good marketing is crucial. Some authors never manage to sell a book at all, some only sell to good friends and family, and some figure out how to sell a good amount of books. Most authors are writers and imaginers and thinkers. Sales ability is far from their repertoire of life skills or even "wanta have" skills. Nevertheless, why publish unless you sell!

Today, in February, I start my pre-marketing! Wish me luck. Oh, you want to know the names of the two new books?  Tomorrow. Tomorrow.

Ten Small Ways to Celebrate TODAY!

This is the sweetest of days. Share your heart with those dear to you. Share your heart with yourself! Make your Valentine's day cheerful and vibrant.
    1. Buy a red and white bouquet of flowers.
    2. Text or email a special person or call a neighbor.
    3. Write an appreciative letter. Use flower-y stickers.
    4. Pay a friend a visit.
    5. Paint an abstract Valentine picture. Sketch a red cartoon. Embroider a heart on your nightgown.
    6. Read funny or romantic poems. Write your own.
    7. Bake and frost heart cookies. Buy a calorie-laden cupcake!
    8. Grab your young child, niece, nephew, or grandchild. Sing (and dance) a corny love song with     him or her (or them!).
    9. Rent a romantic movie. Romantic comedies are great. Enjoy it alone .... or with a friend.
  10. I am a lover of small objects. Find a small item of sentimental pleasure. Place it in a spot of honor. Smile every time you see it. Here are three of my cute Valentine's Day Bainbridge Bears.

Oh, so much you can do to make February 14th stand out.

 Do it!
